The obituary notice of Hewart JEFFRIES

So sorry to hear of your loss. I remember you from when we chatted outside your house in Bekynton Avenue.

Uncle Hewie was a dear uncle who was always kind, thoughtful and full of humour, positivity and goodness. I always looked forward to his visits to our home and going to see him and his family, and have memories of his enthusiasm for after dinner piano performances, listening to music and playing cards and games. I have fond memories of family gathering in France, the famous Winchester picnic where he and my dad sat side by side so clearly relishing in one another's company, tea in Glastonbury, the Golden Wedding celebrations, and other family occasions where he brought so much warmth and fun. He was someone you could always feel comfortable with and was always so welcoming. He was a very loving and lovable person who will be deeply missed by his family and surely by all who knew him. I am blessed to have had such a lovely uncle and will always remember him with great fondness and appreciation and will miss him too. Cecile Jeffries

Uncle Hewie was the dearest of Uncles and one whom I shall deeply regret and always think of with great fondness. He had many qualities: he was gentle, calm, tactful, sensitive, patient, understanding, kind, honest, and full of fun and zest for life. He was also a gifted and cultivated man; a man who cared deeply about his family and relatives and made them feel truly loved and valued. I remember nice picnics, country walks, your home made elderberry wine, discussions about Mozart and Beethoven, our first encyclopaedia which you gave us, your weekly cauliflower and cheese with Grandma, a wonderful holiday in Ilfracombe by the seaside with you and your family, your golden wedding celebration, thankyou for being the person you were.
